I recently stayed at a charming family-run ryokan in Kyoto for a few days. The owners, Takao and his family, were incredibly warm and sincere hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort during our stay, even though there was a language barrier. The ryokan itself was a beautiful traditional Japanese house with tatami mats and a lovely garden in the courtyard. Its location, a short 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, made it convenient for exploring the city's top attractions. Additionally, the ryokan offered a private onsen-style bath, adding to the authentic and unique experience.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful Christmas stay at a traditional Ryokan in Kyoto. the hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. the location was perfect, just a short walk from the train station and near a beautiful temple complex. Plus, we loved the spacious room and the experience of the traditional Onsen style bath - it was so relaxing!
The 11pm curfew, which could be inconvenient for some guests. We didn't mind as we always returned before 10pm, but it's something to consider if you like to stay out late.

The value for money at this ryokan was excellent and the room was spacious enough for our group of four. The location was perfect, with a main shrine just across the street, and it was a short walk to Kyoto station. The staff treated us like family, going above and beyond to accommodate our needs.
Breakfast selection could have been more varied.
